The average dress size has increased from a size 8 in 1969 to a size 14 today.  61.9% or 64.5 million women 20 years of age or older are overweight which has led researches to label this phenomenon “America’s Obesity Epidemic”.  They attribute this primarily to our high fat diet and sedentary lifestyles.  Another factor encouraging this statistic is the overall aging of the population because when as we age we tend to gain weight.

A study by The Global Purchasing Group titled “How to Market, Service, and Sell the Plus Market,” cites that 80% of the plus-size consumers surveyed shop on the internet.  80% of the 64.5 million overweight women in America or 51.6 million plus-size consumers currently shop online.  These women form our core target market.

Target Pricing

Most of our clothing will retail in the better to designer category.  Skirts will start at $75, dresses at $100, and blouses at about $50.
